Administration
The administration section is responsible for the day to day operations of the Winston County Sheriff's Office. The administration section consists of the Chief Clerk and Assistant Clerk.
The Chief Clerk serves as the Sheriff's Administrative assistant and is responsible for receiving, entering, and maintaining all warrants and civil processes from the Circuit Clerk and District Attorney's Office. The civil process includes summonses, subpoenas, eviction notices, and various writs. The Chief Clerk enters and maintains all incident/offense, arrests, and wreck reports that are submitted by the deputies. The Chief Clerk also issues Pistol Permits and assists the public in the office and by phone.
The Assistant Clerk assists the Chief Clerk and Sheriff in day to day operations of the Sheriff's Office including managing the financial accounts, accounts payable/receivable, process monthly disbursements of monies received into the Sheriff's Office. In addition, the Assistant Clerk serves as the Work Release Director managing the financial accounts for the program and oversees all inmate monies. In the capacity as Work Release Director, the Assistant Clerk oversees the distribution of inmate wages, coordinating with DHR, Circuit Clerk, and District Attorney's Office to make payments for child support, fines, and restitution orders. Likewise, the Assistant Clerk assists inmates in job placement and coordinates with the community, local businesses, and area churches to implement programs that assist inmates in preparing for release.
The Clerks put forth great effort in assuring the Sheriff's Office runs smoothly and efficiently along with trying to make the public's contact with the Sheriff's Office pleasant.
