WINSTON COUNTY - The Winston County Sheriff's Office graduated its first Citizens Academy on June 2, 2011.  The Citizens Academy, an 8-week course of study, exposed citizens from across Winston County to a variety of procedures, processes, and tactics related to feeding and corrections, E911 and distpatch, K9 patrol, drug awareness and investigations, criminal investigations, patrol procedures, officer safety and survival, reserve deputy program, and much more. Further, the Citizens Academy engaged participants in the role of being a deputy in several real life scenarios and a mock preliminary trial.
